Beauty // Travelling Skincare from a Flight Attendant

DSC_0085After being a long/shorthaul flight attendant for almost 2 years I’ve had my fair share of skin issues while travelling. Let’s be frank, flying can be super drying and damaging to your skin. So what exactly happens to your skin at 30,000 feet? A 7 hour flight can remove up to 1/2 litre of water from your body. I’ve narrowed it down to a select few products, tried and tested in which I now swear by. Read on to find out more…

Step 1 – Moisture Surge Moisturiser and All About Eyes Cream

Moisture Surge extended thirst relief is a super light weight, watery moisturiser/gel that plumps skin with hydration for a full 24 hours. I’ve use many thick creams to help fix my dry and dehydrated skin and nothing I have used in the past has done the job. Hand on heart, I swear by this product. It leaves my skin baby soft and hydrated. Out of all products this is my fave. Along with this, I pair it with “All about eyes” eye cream. I find when flying as crew or as a passenger, there is a lot of sleepless nights or super early starts, leaving eyes puffy and dark. A dab of this eye cream over lids and under eyes will sort all issues out.

Step 2 – Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate

Supercharged water-gel concentrate instantly quenches dehydrated skin and boosts skin’s moisture reservoir for a full 24 hours. The product uses antioxidant spheres containing Vitamin C and E to combat anti ageing, as we all know flying can age the skin dramatically too. I use this on top of Step 1 to lock in moisture and now and again pop it on top of my SPF makeup. There is even a concentrate for men too: Maximum Hydrator Concentrate

Step 3 – Evian Facial Spray

This Evian facial spray is the perfect way to freshen up your skin mid flight or mid adventure when you’ve arrived to your destination. The tiny water droplets are instantly absorbed into the skin to keep it hydrated. I use this over my makeup, before I go on crew rest and before I land.

Step 4 – Midnight Recovery Concentrate

This is the crème de la crème of elixir’s. The best one on the market. As soon as I get downroute in the evenings, my make up comes off and this oil comes on. Using a few drops warmed between my fingers I simply pat it onto my skin and Ta-Dah! Glowy skin in the morning. Sometimes if I’m doing an overnight flight I apply this, then my tinted moisturiser on top to lock in the magic. Best thing is, the formula is 99.8% natural-derived.

Step 5 – L’Oreal Clay Face Mask and Hydra Genius

DSC_0059After the excitement of a trip and visiting vibrant cities, it can clog up your skin. Once I’m back home I spend my evening using the L’Oreal Pure Clay face masks. Each mask has a different power. I use a little bit of each on different areas of the face to combat dull skin, spots and draw out any dirt/pollution. I finish off by applying a layer of Hydra Genius Aloe Water and letting it soak in. Perfect way to end a long trip.

My final and most important piece of advice is so easy and simple. DRINK WATER. I cannot say this enough. Hydrate your body and you’ll feel and see the difference. I aim to drink 1-2 litres of water on a flight and continue to drink plenty of water wherever I am travelling.

Hope I’ve inspired you with some new skincare products. Just look after yourself, you’ll thank yourself in the future.
